Policy and Advocacy

NOFASD Australia advocates on behalf of individuals and families living with FASD for public policy reforms that will:

  • Improve the quality of life of people living with FASD
  • Prevent FASD in the future

NOFASD Australia has a strong community focus and is dedicated to representing the needs of the consumer in a variety of forums, including government consultation processes, FASD research and community-based initiatives.

We work collaboratively with parents and carers, a range of not-for-profit organisations, government agencies, health professionals, teachers, corrective services and youth justice, out of home care and foster care, and community groups to pursue FASD policy reform in Australia.

Some important advocacy tools have come to the fore as a result of recent nationaland international events and conferences, including the following:

To further our strategic objectives we are members of a number of organisations and alliances, including:

Over the next 3 years we will be establishing a policy advisory committee to support the development of NOFASD Australia Policy Position Papers on a range of issues relating to FASD. Watch this space.
