Elevating Community Voices: Preventing alcohol harm together
Alcohol is a cause of cancer and contributes to a range of other harms. At Cancer Council WA, we are working to reduce harm from alcohol through elevating community voices and perspectives. We want to connect with members of the community who have a story about alcohol impacting yourself, a loved one, or your community.
By listening to and sharing community perspectives and stories about the harms of alcohol, we aim to increase public and policymakers understanding and awareness of these issues. We are currently looking to connect with community voices who may have a lived and/or living experience or perspectives on the online or app-based sale and home delivery of alcohol products, especially those advertised as fast delivery and late night.
Talking about these topics can be tough so we want to meet you where you’re at. We will work alongside you to listen to your story and explore what we can do together to support responses to alcohol harms being informed by community voices. There are a range of possible actions we can consider together such as sharing quotes from your story, sharing content on social media, or coming with us to a speak with government staff or members of parliament. You will be supported throughout the process and will always have the option to change your mind. This is a safe space!
If you or someone you know has a story or perspective to share, please get in touch with us at: Gracie.Cayley@cancerwa.asn.au or give us a call on (08) 9212 4339.
