NOFASD Australia will present a session titled:
FASD is Not a Label: Challenging Stigma Through Lived Experience and Partnership
Presenter: Simone McKenry, Project Support – NOFASD Australia
This presentation explores how partnering with individuals and families with lived experience of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) can transform practice—from blame and stigma to strengths-based, trauma-informed support. Drawing on co-designed research and lived insights, the session will highlight how inclusive language, shared power, and genuine collaboration can improve access to health, justice, and education systems.
Aligned with the conference theme Power in Partnership, this session contributes to the streams Real-world insights, Change makers, and Deepening expertise, showing how lived experience can reshape systems for greater equity and understanding.
