Reflecting and Celebrating: NAIDOC Week 2026

NAIDOC Week is happening now across Australia, celebrating and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week is an annual, Australia-wide celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It provides an opportunity for all Australians to come together to learn about and recognise the world’s oldest continuing cultures, and to celebrate the strength and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Each year, a national theme guides NAIDOC Week. In 2026, the theme “50 Years of Deadly” recognises a significant milestone – marking five decades of NAIDOC Week celebrations. The theme acknowledges the strength, resilience and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and honours the many individuals, families and communities who have contributed to sustaining culture, advocating for change, and shaping a stronger future.

NAIDOC Week is marked by a wide range of activities and events across the country, including community gatherings, cultural performances, art exhibitions, educational events and award ceremonies. These activities create opportunities to celebrate culture, build understanding and strengthen respectful relationships.

NAIDOC Week is also a time for reflection on how we, as an organisation, are contributing to reconciliation. Through our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are continuing to build strong foundations by:

  • strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations
  • increasing cultural awareness and capability across our workforce
  • embedding respectful, inclusive practices into our work
  • reviewing our policies and processes to support equitable and culturally safe approaches

We are making steady progress on our RAP deliverables, with a focus on listening, learning and ensuring our actions are meaningful and accountable. This work is ongoing and will continue to guide how we support reconciliation in practice.

We encourage everyone to take part in NAIDOC Week – whether by attending a local event, exploring resources, or taking time to reflect on how we can each contribute to a more inclusive and respectful future.
