The Australian Guidelines for Assessment and Diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

“The Australian Guidelines for Assessment and Diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder” recommendations have been approved by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Funding was provided by the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care to a consortium involving The University of Queensland, The University of Sydney, The Kids Research Institute Australia, La Trobe University, Griffith University, Gold Coast Health’s Child Development Service, National Organisation for FASD (NOFASD), Patches Paediatrics, Monash Children’s Hospital, West Moreton Health, and FASD C.A.R.E. Many other organisations were also involved as part of the Guidelines Development Group and Project Advisory Groups.

A goal of these updated Guidelines is to encourage all health practitioners, regardless of setting or discipline, to contribute where they can to the assessment process in order to increase accessibility to the diagnostic process.
