Turning 18 and living with FASD: New two-part resource set

Did you know that transitioning into adulthood presents unique challenges for individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)? For young people with FASD, turning 18 often brings new responsibilities, legal obligations, and complex decisions that require careful navigation.

To support this critical life stage, NOFASD Australia has released a new two-part resource set – designed to provide both detailed guidance and easy-to-understand information for young people and their support networks.

Why were these resources updated?

Our original resource, Now That You Are 18, offered comprehensive information to support young people with FASD as they transition into adulthood. Recognising the ongoing value of this detailed guide, NOFASD has re-released it with a refreshed title and cover: Guiding Your Young Adult with FASD. This updated version continues to serve as a practical and informative tool for those supporting young adults through this important life stage.

To complement this, NOFASD has developed a new companion booklet – Turning 18 and Living with FASD – designed specifically for young people. This easy-read version presents key information from the original guide in a simplified format, using plain language, visual cues, and an accessible structure to support independent understanding.

What’s in the resource set?
