WEBINAR SERIES – CHILD AND ADOLESCENT TO PARENT/CARER VIOLENCE AND ABUSE

Child to Parent Violence and Abuse Webinar, presented by Associate Professor Anita Gibbs

The first two webinars explored this area of family violence which is ‘almost taboo’ in our society, but very real for families and those attempting to offer support and interventions. These webinars include:
– exploring the phenomena of adolescent to parent and caregiver violence and abuse
– the impacts on different family members
– the responses of professionals and strategies that might be effective in managing and reducing family distress and misery
– opportunities for question and interactions and collaborative participation and problem solving.

The third webinar will be a live Q&A session and will address questions arising from the first two webinars. Please email your questions to Sophie.Harrington@nofasd.org.au

The first two webinars were recorded and are available to view by clicking the links below:

Session 01 (07/07/2020)

Session 02 (21/07/2020)

Session 3 will be a live and interactive webinar on Tuesday 4th August at 11.30 am AWST / 1.30 pm AEST. Questions will be put to Anita and our co-host Cheryl Dedman, who is the Chair of the Board of Directors for NOFASD and parent to a teenage son with FASD. You can choose to remain anonymous and send through anonymous questions OR you can ask to be seen and/or heard during this webinar. We will make this clear on the day to ensure you are in control of your level of input and visibility. If you haven’t signed up for session 3 yet, please register  in advance.

In session 2, Anita asked us “What kind of help and support would really make a difference to you, your family or the family you are trying to help?” Anita would love to hear from you and address any additional questions you may have. Please send your questions to Sophie.Harrington@nofasd.org.au by 5 pm on Monday 3rd August.
