After the success of their last FASD Training Day, the CICADA Centre NSW will host Demystifying FASD in Youth to empower GPs, paediatricians, psychiatrists, and allied and mental health professionals to develop knowledge and skills in FASD in children and adolescents. Speakers Professor Elizabeth Elliott and Dr Marcel Zimmet are specialists in the field, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in FASD research and clinical practice.
This one-day event will be held on Monday 13th August, 2018 from 8.30am to 4.30pm at the UTS – Aerial Function Centre UTS Building 10, Level 7, 235 Jones Street, Ultimo NSW 2007. Registrations are due by the 6th August, and can be completed here here.

- FASD overview and research update
- Understanding the Australian FASD diagnostic guidelines and how they apply to youth
- Incorporating the guidelines in clinical practice
- Special populations focus on adolescents and forensic considerations
Three workshop streams include:
- FASD morphology
- Intervention and support for children and youth with FASD
- Drugs and young people

The CICADA Centre NSW brings together three teams of experts at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead to assist children, adolescents, families and NSW health professionals to build leadership and research into the prevention of harm to children and adolescents from drugs and alcohol.
