The Australian Foundations in FASD Course
This International FASD Awareness Day we are excited to announce the launch of the Australian Foundations in FASD Online Course!
NOFASD, in partnership with CanFASD, are proud to launch the Australian Foundations in FASD online learning opportunity. This course is an evidence-based, interactive online learning resource consisting of 7 individual modules. Each module takes around 30 to 40 minutes to complete and upon course completion a downloadable certificate is produced.
How much does the course cost?
This NOFASD project is supported by grant funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) National Information Program. In addition, NOFASD is supported by the Commonwealth Department of Health through a grant which funds the NOFASD website. Thanks to this support, we are able to offer the Australian Foundations in FASD course to you absolutely FREE!
NOFASD Australia would like to extend thanks to the Canada Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Research Network (CanFASD) for permission to adapt the Foundations in FASD course for Australia. All adaptations have been approved by CanFASD to maintain the integrity of the course materials. CanFASD bring together many scientific viewpoints to address the complexities of FASD, with a focus of ensuring that research knowledge is translated to community and policy action. You can find out more about CanFASD by visiting their website.
Who should complete the Australian Foundations in FASD course?
This course is suitable for anyone wanting to learn more about FASD.
For service providers and government agencies, this course will provide you with an opportunity to learn more about the challenges your clients and their families experience and how you can provide FASD-informed supports.
For parents, carers and adults with FASD, this course sets a benchmark that you can expect as a minimum from the service providers you engage with. If you are working with a new service provider, ask them to show you their Foundations in FASD course completion certificate. This way you will know they have some understanding of the complexities of FASD.

NOFASD would like to thank Prue Walker BSW, FASD Consultant, for her assistance with the re-write of the course materials. NOFASD would also like to give thanks to the FASDHub for their permission to share videos and information from their website, and to the parents and carers who feature in these videos for their courage to share to help raise awareness of FASD.

Thanks for your feedback Jennifer! We’re thrilled that so many professionals have already completed this online course.
This online course was very informative. I am grandparent carer of my 14 granddaughter born with FASD. I have had her in my care for 13.5 years. I am going to show her school this link .
Thank you Jenny for your feedback. Please let as many people as you can that are involved with your granddaughter know about this course.
