Australian Parliament House

Description:

Around 70 parliamentarians and members of their staff attended the official launch today for FASD Awareness Month at Parliament House in Canberra.

This initiative was a collaboration between NOFASD, FARE Australia and NACCHO

and provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about FASD (including hearing from those with lived experience of this disability).

Red shoes were in evidence everywhere in support of the #RedShoesRock campaign, themed flags lined the streets leading to Parliament House and you can see the energy and excitement from those in the FASD community in attendance today who see that FASD is emerging from being a hidden, and often stigmatised, disability to now gaining the wider attention and understanding that it deserves.
